Lexus Meets Deer - Deer Go Boom!

Lexus 1 - Deer 0

Well, I had a beautiful car. It was fine until I got to Stamford on Wednesday November 11, 2009 at about 12:45AM on the way home. I came upon 2 deer in the road on the Merritt Parkway. One deer standing in each lane looking at me likely thinking what is that!  Well it is a gold bullet that is going to whack your ass if you don't move.  Well, it didn't' move.  There was no where to go. I tried to stop but to no avail. I hit the one in the right lane. He/she's hide quarters flew up a little and I noticed some flesh flying in different directions and then the main impact happened.  I hit the center of my grill on the right front shoulder of Bambi. Bambi quickly did a 180 degree turn from facing South to facing North.  It flew up a couple of feet and off to the 10 o'clock direction but didn't land on the hood.. The car seemed to drive OK so I kept driving but wasn't sure if it was a good idea. About a mile down the road I saw a Connecticut State Trooper who had pulled someone over. I pulled in behind him. He finished up with the other driver and he did some paperwork. The Trouper completed a Deer Kill Incident Report.  I called Lexus roadside assistance. The trooper stayed with me shooting the breeze for over an hour until a U-Haul truck with a car on a trailer behind it drove by. He needed to go get him off of the parkway. Roadside assistance was there about 10 minutes later. They required that I accompany the vehicle to the dealer in Greenwich. I went from 8 miles from home back the wrong way about 13 miles.  I then took a taxi home. I arrived here at about 3:10AM. I am fine, bummed and a little pissed but fine. One thing is for damn sure. I having some fucking venison this week. Hey if I stopped and put it in my back seat I could have called 911 later and re-enacted the Bambulance phone call!

Lexus 1 - Deer 0.  OK, maybe the Lexus didn't win but it didn't lose either.  The deer is dead - it lost!  By Thursday Lexus Of Greenwich had almost all of the parts to fix my car.  Insurance had a check on the way to get it repaired.  The initial estimate is $10,052.31.  The additional needed to complete the repairs was $490.15 bringing the total repair bill to $10,542.46.  The Lexus will survive so it didn't lose.  Maybe calling it a win is a stretch.
